NORSE Announcement
NORSE Labs posted an announcement to their Telegram channel about the Apple launch earlier today:
Android Update
In related news, the app’s latest Android update is now live on the Google Play and Samsung Galaxy stores.
As NORSE promised earlier this month, the update introduces split tunneling to the app—the client's first advanced VPN feature. It is available to subscribers of dVPN Plus, the app's premium tier.
What is Split Tunneling?
Split tunneling provides the best of both worlds when it comes to connection security. It allows users to designate specific apps on their device which can bypass a dVPN or VPN connection. While doing so is slightly less secure, it is a very in-demand feature due to the nuisance of georestrictions and site-level VPN blocking.
For example, split tunneling can be used to access Reddit (which blocks browsing via dVPN/VPN) through your own IP address while the rest of your device's traffic remains protected. Many streaming services such as YouTube TV are also difficult or impossible to access through a dVPN/VPN connection.
To learn more about split tunneling, see this helpful article released earlier in the month by TechRadar.
