Sentinel will be returning to Cosmoverse this year!
Cosmoverse 2024 is taking place in Dubai, the world-renowned capital of the United Arab Emirates and global hub for blockchain technology—and Sentinel has big plans there.
This year, Sentinel is one of the conference's key sponsors and the project will have a robust presence. Team members, core contributors, and community members are now flocking to the "City of Gold;" bringing with them dVPN applications, a brand-new AI data acquisition protocol, and a bold vision for the future of DePIN.
The event will kick off on the 21st of this month, and will last until the 23rd.
What to Expect
Everything you need to know about Cosmoverse, Dubai, and Sentinel at Cosmos events.
Cosmoverse is the premier annual event for the Cosmos Ecosystem. It unites industry leaders, developers, and community members from both Cosmos and the wider blockchain industry under one roof for keynotes, panels, workshops, and much more.
The event has become a cornerstone of the ecosystem's youthful and irreverent culture since its inception in 2021. Just three years into its existence, it now consistently draws thousands of attendees from across the globe.
- This year, over two thousand people are expected to attend Cosmoverse.
- More than eighty speakers from around the Cosmos Ecosystem and wider blockchain industry.
- Around three hundred projects will have some sort of presence at the conference.
Sentinel is one of only six "diamond-level" sponsors of this year's conference, a tier second only to the headline sponsors.

Dubai
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) are a federation of seven emirates on the coast of the Gulf of Arabia renowned for their modern cities, economic diversification, and status as a global business hub.
The UAE is known for having a progressive stance on blockchain: Their government actively promotes the sector, and has established regulatory frameworks and "free zones" for blockchain and crypto-related businesses.
Dubai (which needs little introduction) is the country's largest city, with a metropolitan population of over three million people.
Within the city itself, the conference is taking place at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, a resort hotel which entered its second decade of service last year. It is one of the largest luxury sites in the entire city, known for its extensive facilities and acclaimed architecture.

Sentinel at Cosmos Events
After establishing a presence at the 2021 installment of the conference in Lisbon, Sentinel was absent during the two subsequent years—a state of affairs that has been lamented by many team members and core community contributors.
The Sentinel Growth DAO has made bringing Sentinel back to the event a major priority from its inception late last year. Funding for Sentinel's participation in the 2024 was approved as part of Proposal 49, which was passed by an overwhelming margin early April.
"All roads lead to Cosmoverse 2024," the proposal text began, "The DAO feels it’s necessary to have active participation and sponsorship at the Cosmoverse event in Dubai, scheduled for October 2024. Sentinel's last engagement with the Cosmos community event dates back to 2021; it’s time to correct that."
As a prelude to Dubai, Sentinel sponsored the Cosmos Istanbul event over the summer in Turkey (not to be confused with Cosmoverse 2023).
Over two hundred attendees were treated to panels, Q&A sessions, and expert keynotes over the course of the laid back single-day event, which was held on August 12th in the ancient Black Sea megalopolis.

The Main Event
Everything you need to know about Sentinel at Cosmoverse 2024.
Sentinel's delegation to Dubai will include members of the Sentinel Growth DAO and Breadcrumbs teams; as well as community members and other core contributors.
Notable figures from Sentinel that have been confirmed as either speakers or attendees include:
- The CEO of Breadcrumbs Data, American developer Zac Wickstrom, will be delivering a keynote speech on day one.
- The founder of the Sentinel Growth DAO and longtime project media man, Seventh.
- Sergey of the Sentinel Growth DAO and Quokka Stake validator.
- Dmitry, veteran project consultant and passionate community energizer.
- Much to the delight of the community, Sentinel's beloved blue amphibian mascot Mitch will also be travelling to the conference.
Some other speakers which are not directly connected to Sentinel, but may still be of interest to the community include:
- Greg Osuri, CEO and co-founder of Akash Network, a longtime booster and friend to Sentinel.
- Guy Turner, CCO and co-founder of CoinBureau, which has provided Sentinel with much generous coverage over the past year.
- Ethan Buchman, the co-founder of Cosmos.
- Anil Murty, the VP of engineering at Akash Network.
What is Breadcrumbs?
Breadcrumbs Data is a California-based company which has been quietly building their own dVPN client on Sentinel since 2022. The application already launched on Android and iOS earlier this year.
One feature which makes Breadcrumbs stand out from other third-party dVPN projects in Sentinel is its personal data marketplace, which offers innovative new ways for users to take control of their personal data.
With Sentinel now entering the AI arena, an intersection between dVPN and the commodification of data is a perfect demonstration of the project's future course. Breadcrumbs has delivered it, and soon the world will take notice.
CEO Zac Wickstrom's speech at Cosmoverse 2024 will symbolically mark the company's debut as one of Sentinel's marquee whitelabel teams, joining the likes of Independent dVPN, MathNodes, and NORSE Labs.
On the Right Track
Following an opening presentation by Akash Network and a keynote address by its CEO Greg Osuri, Sentinel will be participating in an AI Track discussion at 15:55 local time, alongside Warden Protocol and Oraichain.
Tracks at Cosmoverse are ten specialized segments focusing on blockchain topics such as AI, tokenization, modularity, and NFTs. Track attendees can expect lectures, workshops, hacker lounge discussions, and hands-on activities.
The AI Track, which is headlined by frequent Sentinel partner Akash Network, "will delve deep into the intersection of AI and blockchain."
Event organizers described the AI segment as a major highlight of the conference:
"As AI becomes more engrained in our daily lives, we must discuss its long-term impacts, the potential risks of centralized control, and the importance of decentralisation."
Sentinel is a newcomer to the AI space, and has only been active within it since July. The blockchain's brand-new AI Data Layer (dubbed Sentinel Scout) is already attracting significant industry attention, including a mention in a recent Binance Research report.
Cosmos dVPN

Sentinel's delegation will be bringing much more to Dubai with them than talk: Cosmos dVPN will be getting its first moment in the sun.
The app will feature Cosmos Hub Atoms ($ATOM) as a primary payment method for subscriptions. Even its design elements serve as a tribute to the Cosmos Ecosystem: Logos of Sentinel's cousin projects light up like a Christmas tree upon connecting, and the settings menu gives a very prominent nod to the Cosmos SDK on which the app was built.
The dVPN client's launch on Android and iOS is imminent, according to the Sentinel team. Beta builds have been available for community testing for months on Telegram.

Funding
The latest and final round of funding for Sentinel at Cosmoverse (and countless other DAO initiatives) is currently being voted on by the community as part of Proposal 54, which began its voting period yesterday (12/10).
"We’ve invested in merchandise and other materials to create a lasting impact at Cosmoverse, all while keeping spending efficient," the proposal text explains. "Beyond sponsoring the event, we’ll have additional advertising to amplify Sentinel’s presence and showcase our robust dVPN ecosystem."
